The Pink Eco Narrowboat Journey
elektra has been my home since October 2nd 2021. It's a modern 62 foot electric narrowboat and I love living on board. I sold my house, car, motorbike and almost everything else over a two year period ready for my adventure. I'm a "continuous cruiser" which means I don't have a home mooring but prefer to explore our 2,000 miles of canal on an ongoing basis, summer and winter.
Last summer I spent five months away from the boat on a different adventure, walking from Land's End to John o'Groats AND BACK! Read more... I'm aiming to raise £70,000 for Hope and Homes for Children. I'm now raising money by giving talks about my adventures.
Upcoming talks:
5th June 2026 13:30-15:00 - Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley, LS29 9DZ - Helen 07592 307263
15th June 2026 13:45-14:45 - Doncaster U3A - Christ Church, Thorne Road, DN1 2HG
12th August 2026 14:00-15:00 - Kettering U3A
My lovely modern narrowboat was built by Chris Smith and the guys at Smithwood and I set off onto the network on January 20th 2022. I'm really loving the boat (Smithwood did a great job on it) and enjoying exploring the canal system.
In the words of David Bowie, "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring".
To share the journey so far, go to YouTube and view my channel "@PinkHatMan". Most of the time the Webcam should be live (broadband signal permitting). ![]()
